Originally designed in 1954 by Dan Johnson, the Sol y Luna collection is crafted from cast aluminum components that artisans file and grind to a smooth surface. Metal artisans weld the components together and then grind, buff, and polish every joint to “a smooth, jewellike finish.”
To prepare Sol y Luna for powder coating, every frame undergoes a five-step pretreatment that ensures superior paint adhesion and exceptional cleanliness. Finally, we apply an Ultra Fuse powder coat finish by hand using an electrostatic technique that creates a complete, uniform coating across the entire frame.
